ALEXANDRA ZELENSKAYA
Born in Russia, Alexandra Zelenskaya studied in Sweden, earning a master degree in radiobiology from the University in Stockholm and a PhD degree in biophysics from the Karolinska Institute. She moved to Switzerland in 2002 continuing her scientific career with postdoctoral studies in space biology and drug formulation. She is currently working in pharma being employed by F.Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel.
Alexandra has been writing poems for a long time. In 2014 she published a book containing 150 of them in Russian, entitled “On the Edge of the Universe”.
“At first glance my scientific work may not look as if it has a great deal to do with poetic creativity, but in fact it does. Working with scientific data makes it easier to unveil complex interconnections,” Alexandra explains. “And poetry helps me to look deeper into the human nature and get a feeling about its complexity."
